Panthers Fall In Victory Bowl 29-28

The Greenville College Panthers lost the Victory Bowl title in a heart-breaker Saturday 29-28 after a last second field goal by the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes put the game just out of reach. The Panther had led the entire game, but a drive by Geneva in the final minute set them up for a 30 yard field goal that split the uprights. This was the first home loss for the Panthers all season.

It was a difficult loss for the Panthers, but attitudes were still positive in the post game Afterglow. Both teams came together to pray together and to speak words of encouragement.

Senior MLB Garrett Young was awarded the Defensive Player of the Game award after his outstanding performance. SR DE's Alex Holmes, Joe Andrews, and Cory Bierdeman all had sacks on the day.

Offensively, the Panthers were led on the ground once again by JR RB Anthony Ambers, and JR RB Mark Mitchell, who both had a touchdown on the day. JR QB Joel Lira also contributed on the ground, and led the Panthers in passing yards. JR WR Jordan Fred had a touchdown catch, his second in the last 2 games.

The Panthers finish the season 7-3, which gives them one of the best records in school history.
