EMAP Runs Away with NCCAA Nationals

On Saturday February 20th 2010 13 NCCAA member schools competed in the Indoor Track & Field National Championships. Eight of the competitors competing for GC are also Greenville College Football players. Andrew Story SO OL, Jumaane Bey JR LB, Edgar Townsend SR CB, Chris Gunn SO CB, Mark Mitchell SR RB, Brian White SO CB, Darius Golden SO LB and student coach Dominic Kegel all helped GC track finish 3rd in this year’s National Championship.

The most decorated football track star of the event was Edgar Townsend who placed 1st in the 55 Meter Hurdles, 200 Meter Dash and the 4x200 Meter Relay. The other 3 members of that 1st place 4x200M team were Chris Gunn, Mark Mitchell and Bryan White. Mitchell, White and Gunn all placed in the 200M race as well, finishing 3rd, 5th and 18th respectively.

Jumaane Bey can now add National Champion to his resume as he won the Triple Jump competition with a jump of 44-11.75.

The 55M Dash was another race the Panthers excelled in. Mitchell led the group with a 2nd place finish while White’s 3rd and Kegel’s 7th were an impressive feat as well.

EMAP Nation wants to congratulate these fellow Panthers and is excited to see the winning trends transfer onto another sport. You can find more information about the NCCAA Championships here.
