Ambers and Gamble End Season With UMAC Honors

Senior running back Anthony Ambers (Apple Valley, CA) and Freshman returner Immanuel Gamble (St. Louis, MO) received UMAC Player of the Week Awards for their performances in the Panthers 62-27 win over Eureka College.

Ambers saved his best performance for last, as he ran wild against Eureka College, claiming another Upper Midwest Athletic Conference offensive player of the week award, his third of the season.

Ambers, in what was Greenville’s senior day, rushed for a season high 385 yards on 30 attempts, averaging 12.8 yards per carry. Ambers longest rush of the day was a 67-yard scamper that helped him tally four rushing touchdowns Saturday, in a 62-27 win over the Devils of Eureka.

Gamble made his presence felt as a kick return specialist Saturday, Nov. 6, and was named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference special teams player of the week for his efforts.

Gamble started Saturday's game against Eureka with a bang, returning the opening kick-off 79 yards for a touchdown. The freshman collected 133 return yards on four return attempts on the day.

The Panthers finished the season 7-3 (6-0 UMAC)and won their second consecutive UMAC Championship. The All UMAC awards will be announced later this week.
