Two seniors for the Greenville College Panthers were named to the D3football.com 2010 All-North Region Team. Running back Anthony Ambers (Apple Valley, CA) and offensive tackle David Butler (West Frankfort, IL) were both members of the All-North Region third team.
This is yet another award for a pair of seniors who shined in their final football season. Ambers was named UMAC Offensive Player of the Year to go along with his 1st Team All-UMAC spot.
Butler was also recognized as the best lineman in the UMAC in 2010. Receiving the coveted UMAC Lineman of the Year Award in addition to his spot on the 1st Team All-UMAC team.
Offensive coordinator Robbie Schomaker talked about both of the seniors, "Anthony Ambers was a workhorse for us this year as he accounted for 40% of our total offense from the Running back position. He was as good as any back in the nation this year and earned this award because of all the hard work he put in last off season. He was the best player on the field in almost every game he competed in for us. He is one of the best players to ever come through Greenville College."
"David Butler was the most dominant Offensive Lineman I have been around. The amount of improvement we saw in him from his Freshman year to now is a tribute to his work ethic. O-lineman usually do not stand out when you grade out other positions but I found myself watching him dominate his competition while grading out the skill position. He was a big reason we had the 8th most rushing yards in the nation this year."
This is the second consecutive year a member of the Greenville College Panthers has made a D3Football.com All-Region Team. In 2009 TE Zach Friedrich was named to the North Region Second Team.
