During Greenville College's spring break, March 11th-19th, 23 football players and coaches will travel to Philadelphia, PA for a mission’s trip. The trip will consist of cleaning up a drug riddled park and putting on a camp at that park for the local children. In the community the team will be visiting there are no athletic programs for children. The team will be able to give back and spread the message of Jesus through this football camp. Tales From the Trail

Much like the classic video game Oregron Trail, recruiting out of state has become an exciting adventure for the Greenville College Football coaching staff.

This week Offensive Line Coach Aaron Mingo went to visit some potential Panthers in the Silver State. Coach Mingo visited both local high schools and individuals just off the strip in Las Vegas, Nevada.

During his time there Coach Mingo shacked up with the family of current Panther Kody Herzog.

"The Herzog's were great." Coach Mingo explained, "They took care of me while I'm out here trying to find the next Kody!"

On the second leg of his trip Coach Mingo will visit California. The Golden state accounted for six All-UMAC players in 2010.

Coach Mingo will be staying with former Panther great Garrett Vasquez.

Mingo will return Sunday just in time for the Presidents Day Preview Day at Greenville College.

UMAC Fall Academic All-Conference

Last week the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced their 2010 Fall Academic All-Conference Award winners. To make this team a student-athlete must post a 3.5 or better semester grade point average based on a 4.0 scale and compete in the sport in which the student-athlete is nominated in the season that corresponds with the selection.

This season there were eight members of the UMAC Champion Greenville College Panther Football team who qualified. They were SO OL Jeremy Burrows (Santiam Christian High School, Salem, OR), SR OL David Butler (Frankfort Community High School, West Frankfort, IL), SR WR Jordan Fred (Corvallis High School, Corvallis, OR), FR K Josh Frewin (Payson High School, Payson, AZ), FR RB Justin Honneycutt (Wabash High School, Wabash, IN), SR LB David Maurer (Lindsay Thurber Composite HS, Greenville, IL), FR LB Matt Schuman (Geneva Community High School, Geneva, IL) and FR OL Jesse Tyrrell (Mountain View High School, Loveland, CO)

The Panther football program is proud of these talented student-athletes for their hard work both on and off the field.
