Greenville College Football was well represented as the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced their 2012 football postseason awards. Greenville had five first team all-conference selections in this year’s UMAC awards.
JR RB Immanuel Gamble (St. Louis, MO), JR QB Brendan Chambers (San Clemente, CA), JR DB Bryce Wright (Peoria, AZ), SR OL Jeremy Burrows (Salem, OR), and SR OL Trendon Amuzie (Grass Valley, CA) were all named to the All-Conference First team.
RB Immanuel Gamble was also recognized at the UMAC’s Offensive Player of the Year. Gamble rushed for a conference leading 1073 yards on the season (119.2 yards per game average) and 11 touchdowns.
QB Brendan Chambers also had an impressive season in which he finished the season with 1011 yards passing with 8 passing touchdowns. Chambers completed 53.6% of his passes which placed him 3rd in the UMAC in completion percentage. Chambers also rushed for 685 yards rushing and a UMAC leading 13 rushing touchdowns. This is the 2nd consecutive season that Chambers has been recognized as a UMAC first team All-Conference selection.
Bryce Wright had a very impressive season at safety leading the Panther defense in tackles. Wright recorded 61 total tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 interception returned for a touchdown. This is Wright’s first season playing defense for the Panthers. He made the transition from running back to safety in the spring.
Senior offensive linemen Jeremy Burrows and Trendon Amuzie had very impressive senior seasons in which they paved the way for an offense that finished 1st in the UMAC and 5th in the NCAA in rushing at 314 yards per game. They also led an offensive line that was 1st in the UMAC and 15th in NCAA in sacks allowed, allowing only 7 sacks on the season. This is the 3rd time that Burrows has been recognized as a UMAC all-conference selection and the 2nd for Amuzie.
Joining the Panthers as an all-conference selection was FR OL Nicholas Cisneros (Stockton, CA). Cisneros was named a second team all-conference selection. Cisneros provided a great boost to the Panthers interior line starting every conference game at center.
Greenville finished the regular season at 7-1 in UMAC play (7-2 overall) earning a co-conference championship. Greenville will wrap up the 2012 season on Saturday, November 17th as they host Northwestern College (MN) in the NCCAA Victory Bowl. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 pm (CST).
