Jeremy Burrows talks about his All-Star game experience

Senior offensive lineman Jeremy Burrows recently played in the D3 Senior Classic All Star Game.  The game took place in Salem, Virginia which is the home of the NCAA division III National Championship game.  The game featured the best players in the country at the NCAA division III level.  Jeremy took some time for an interview to tell us about his experience.

How was the experience?
“The experience as a whole was awesome. Playing alongside and competing with the best D3 players in the nation was one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had playing the game of football.”

How were the practices?
“Honestly, the practices were pretty similar to how GC runs their Thursday practices. We went over new plays, did some individual drill work, came together as a team and did a "thud" scrimmage, and then went through all the special teams. We did this two times on Thursday before the game and then had a walk through on Friday, the morning of the game.”

How were the other players’ abilities?
“Playing in an all-star game, the talent definitely jumped quite a bit from what i was used to in the UMAC, but this definitely made the game more fun to play in. Both teams were loaded with talent. I believe we had 8 1st team all-Americans and one Gagliardi trophy finalist on our defensive side alone. Just to give some perspective, as an offensive lineman at 6'3" 290lbs, i was on the smaller side of the lineup...”

What did you learn?
“I learned that all the hard work that I put in during my 4 years here at GC has paid off tremendously. I learned not only how blessed I am, but how fortunate I am that God gave me the want and desire to come this far with my career. When I was a scrawny 225lb freshman, I never that that I would become an "all-American."

What was your favorite part of the experience?
“My favorite part of the experience would definitely have to be playing under the lights on a Friday night one last time, and beating the North squad. The food was pretty amazing all week as well.”

How did the game go?
“We (the South) won 37-21.”

What are your football plans now?
“Right now, my plans are to keep training and hopefully attend a couple combines in the spring to get my name out there. I have been in contact with some European teams already, but I am going to finish my degree before i even consider any offers. There is going to be a lot of decisions coming up that I will have to make, but I’m just going to keep doing I what I do best and work…then let God sort the rest out.”
