Recap of the Alumni Game (Championship Play, Championship Lives Bowl)

This years Alumni Game was loaded with lots of action as the Alumni came out on top with an 18-6 win. About 30 former players participated in this years game. The game started off quickly with the Alumni offense doing a double reverse and gaining 70 yards. The drive was capped off by former quarterback Brendan Chambers. The rest of the quarter was very back and forth but the JV Panthers got on the board late in the 2nd quarter with a Dylan Massey interception returned for a touchdown. Quarterbacking the alumni team was our very own Coach Joel Lira, a 2010 graduate of Greenville College. The score was tied at half 6-6. The alumni bounced back quickly in the third quarter with a long touchdown drive. Coach Lira found tight end Zach Fredrich. Fredirich is the only All-American Greenville football has ever had. Early in the 4th quarter the Alumni forced an interception and they capitalized on it with a short touchdown run by Chambers once again. The game ended with the margin of 18-6 in favor of the alumni. We really appreciate all of the alumni coming out and playing and we hope to see you all next year. We also want to thank you for having a part in putting the program to where it is today. We are built on your shoulders!
