On Wednesday, the UMAC (Upper Midwest Athletic Conference) announced this year's all conference teams and player of the year awards. Greenville had an even split of three panthers on each side of the ball.
Robert Deering (Osceola, IN) a Sr. linebacker was elected (1st) first-team all conference. Robert had an extremely productive year for the panthers, leading the conference in solo tackles (65), tackles per game (12.0) and total tackles (120). Robert was also given the sportsmanship award for Greenville College. His motor and effort will be missed next season.
Transitioning to the offensive side of the ball, Hamid Camara (Bakersfield, CA) a Jr. running back was elected first-team all conference. Hamid was second in the conference with one thousand and one (1,001) yards rushing and totaled nine (9) rushing touchdowns on the season. His explosiveness in-between the tackles and ability to break tackles in the open field was essential to the Panthers’ run game.
Andres Flores (Stockton, CA) a Jr. offensive tackle was also elected (1st) first-team all conference. This season was Andres’ third year of varsity experience and it showed on the field. Andres led the team in knockdowns and created great movement in short yardage situations. Andres will be back next year to lead the Panthers’ OL.
Lastly, Corbin Quinonez (Tulare, CA) a Jr. tight end, was elected second (2nd) team all conference. Corbin’s ability to catch the ball downfield while also blocking inside the tackle box allowed the offense to be more balanced this season. Corbin caught twenty-four (24) passes this season and averaged eleven point six (11.6) yards per catch. Corbin will also be back for next season.
Congratulations to our All-conference players on an outstanding season!
