Three Panther Defenders Receive Preseason All-American Honors

The 26th annual USA college football D-III All-American teams were announced and included three panthers amongst the defensive honorees. Senior Joey Silva was named 2nd team linebacker. Additionally, Juniors Cory Snyder and Nick Morrow received honorable mention.

2nd Team all-American, Joey Silva is returning from a breakout junior year in which he lead the conference in tackles for loss at 18 as well as tying for first in sacks with 6.5. He added 2 forced fumbles and 80 interception return yards. Joey is one of the hardest working guys on the team and is our emotional leader on defense. He thoroughly enjoys the physical aspect of the game and is looking at a great senior season.

Honorable mention all-American, Cory Snyder is coming from a sophomore season that saw him start all 10 games and grow as our on the field general. Cory was 2nd on the team in tackles last year with 55 total. He also added 5 pass break ups, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble. Cory is one of the smartest players to take the field each Saturday and will do great things this fall.

Also receiving honorable mention all–American is Nick Morrow. Nick led the Greenville defense in tackles in 2014 and is one of the best all around athletes in the conference.  Nick also cam in 5th in the conference in tackles for loss and had a knack for making big plays in 2014. He will be exciting to watch this fall and we can’t wait to see what he can do this year.
