It's Time! Introducing the First Group of Commitments for the Class of 2016

Its that time of the year again! Student athletes across the country are making their decision on where they will be attending school in the fall. These five young men have committed to an education at Greenville College and will be joining the Panthers this fall!

Name: Brock Bullar
Hometown: Du Quoin, Illinois
High School: Du Quoin High School
Position: Receiver
Awards/Honors: All Conference receiver
Major: Criminal Justice
Why did I choose Greenville? : I chose Greenville because I was looking for a college that I knew I would get the top education that I needed to pursue my career. I knew I wanted to be apart of a family when I played, and at Greenville I will be getting just that. I know I wanted to be apart of EMAP program as soon as I was told about it.
Coach's Comments: "Brock is a dynamic athlete that is a big play threat each time he touches the ball. Brock can make plays from the slot, at runningback, and in the return game. Brock’s explosiveness on the field is equal to his drive to succeed in all aspects. Brock works hard in the weight room and classroom. Brock’s great ability and work ethic make him  an athlete that has tremendous upside. We are excited to be bringing in a playmaker with Brock’s ability from a traditional Southern Illinois football powerhouse like Duquoin."

Name: Peyton Roop
Hometown: Downs, Illinois
High School: Tri-Valley
Position: Quarterback/Safety
Awards/Honors: 2x unanimous All Conference DB, All-Conference QB, All-State QB/DB. All-Area DB, All-Area Player of the year
Major: Business
Why did you Choose Greenville? : I chose Greenville because it is a place I could go to not only become a better football player  and student, but also become a better person. I chose Greenville because the motto EMAP and where the coaches preach how football is more than a game it's a brotherhood and an opportunity to teach players life lessons. Greenville is a place where I can further my relationship with God and be around people with the same values as me. Greenville is a place of opportunity and I feel like it was a good fit for me.

Coach's Comments: "It has been an absolute pleasure recruiting Peyton.  There are a couple of reasons why I am extremely excited about Peyton joining the GC Panther football family.  First off Peyton is a monster on the field and can make plays with his athleticism and his football IQ.  He comes from an option style offense so he has to have the ability to make plays and put the football in the right hands.  He proved he can do that by leading his team to a state championship this year.  Second and most important Peyton’s identity is not wrapped up in football, but is securely founded in Jesus Christ.  He is passionate about becoming better in every way both on and off the football field which will translate on Saturday’s."

Name: Trevor Dale Hopkins
Hometown: Rochester, Indiana
High School: Culver Community High School
Position: Offensive/Defensive Line
Awards/ Honors: MVP for Defensive Line
Major: Criminal Justice, Business
Why did you Choose Greenville? : I chose Greenville because of the great football family, great coaches and professors. Also they offer a great major I was looking for to get my degree in.

Coach's Comments:  "We are excited to announce that Trevor will be joining us this fall on the Offensive Line.  His physical demeanor on the field will be a great addition to the physical culture already established at OL.  We have been recruiting Trevor for a long time and I know he is eager to join his teammates and compete this summer in camp.  We are excited to see Trevor grow over the next four years both on and off the football field."

Name: George Salazar III
Hometown: Santa Ana, California

High School: Santa Ana High School
Position: Center

Awards/ Honors: 2015-2016 First Team All-League (Golden West League)

Major: Biology

Why did you choose Greenville? : I chose Greenville College because I believe in what they are trying to do at Greenville and I'm excited to be able to pursue an education while also advancing my spiritual education.
Coach's Comments: "We are excited that George has decided to join the EMAP football family!  George will be a great addition both on and off the football field.  His physical play and ability to recognize defensive fronts is exactly what we are looking for at the Center position.  George also takes his academics very seriously as he had one of the top GPA’s on his team.  His high school coach, Coach TeGantvoort, gave George a very high recommendation as he spoke very highly about his work ethic, character, and leadership.  Cant wait to have George here in August."

Name: Joshua Hernandez
Hometown:  Long Beach, California
High School: Lakewood
Position: WR/H
Awards/Honors: Lancer Award. Award for showing leadership and leading by example
Major: Sports Management
Why did He Choose Greenville: I choose Greenville because I feel like being a Panther will put me in the best position to succeed academically, athletically and in life. The coaching staff has been really great in the recruiting process as well. I put my faith in God to make the right decision and He has guided me to make the right choice. I am truly blessed to say I'm a Panther and I can't wait for next fall.

Coach’s Comments: Coach- It has been an absolute blessing recruiting Josh and we are excited to be adding him to a strong offensive skill core.  Josh’s skill set and athletic ability will allow him to play at either outside or slot wide receiver.  He is physical in the run game and can make a lot of key blocks on defenders, and on the flip side he can make big plays with the ball in his hands.  The thing that sticks out the most about Josh is his passion for the game and desire to be great both on an off the field.
